AND my other daughter just bought a new house, theres some pictures on her blog....I will be going there next week for a visit, and Im sure I will enjoy the cool New England weather and that sparkling lake!!!!!

Boring......Boring.....Boring

I havent blogged for a while, frankly it's been really boring around here, mainly because Im so miserable from this heat and humidity that Im not doing a dang thing exciting, I hadn't even left the house in 3 days, only reason I went out today was for the dreaded mammogram. Anyways, I managed to stop by the store to pick up a few things to make this salad I had been wanting to make for a while, I saw it on Paula Deen's show.....and omg it is sooo yummy you NEED to make it!!!!!!
Here's what you need:
2 cups of corn, I used fresh corn, cut it off the cob, and just boiled it for a few minutes, you want it kind of crunchy.
2 avacados..cubed
1/2 a red onion chopped'
a couple tablespoons of cilantro chopped up
cherry tomatos halved, OR I used a tomato from my garden and just diced it.
Now mix all that up in a bowl......and the dressing is so simple, a couple of tablespoons of evoo, juice from a lime, I used 2 limes,I like lime.. zest from one of the limes, salt, I use kosher, and fresh ground pepper......mix it all up, its so freah and yummy, I ate so much! I served it with grilled chicken, I also think it would be good with fish, or some grilled brats. The perfect summer side dish....
Hopefully the next few weeks will be more exciting, and cooler.....Sharon's pajama party is coming up and I heard there will be contests........and if you know Sharon, well, no need to say any more.......so that will be one of the highlights of summer!
Then right after that Im heading to CT.....I need to spend some time with my oldest, and see her new house. I even get to spend some time with Glenni....I can't wait to see them!!!!
Here's wishing you cooler days than Im having!!!!!

Dog Days.........

I did not realize how long it had been since I blogged, but since everyone is telling me they are tired of seeing my melons...I decided I better get something up...but its been so boring around here, and since August is my LEAST favorite month, I hate it, there hasn't been much to blog about. I do not like the heat, I hate to sweat, and its been very humid so far this summer.....so needless to say Im not a happy camper. So while sitting out in the back yard this morning I was thinking to myself..soooo.."What is GOOD about August?" Im trying to think positive. Well, theres a few things, Sept. is almost here, and although September is not as fun as it was when I had small kids and school shopping was so much fun, at least it signals that October is almost here. The zinnias are in full bloom, and I love growing them, they never disappoint do they? All the birdhouses are full of babies, and I spotted this awesome butterfly, he stayed in my yard for along time..and see if you can spot the baby lizard on the stone, hes so tiny and my yard is full of them...I have learned to keep my camera outside with me, always trying to get the best shot of the baby birds hanging out of the houses when feeding, which I have yet to get. ok, what else.....watermelon...dodger games....ok, Im trying hard here, anyone LIKE August???? OK, Glenni, I know YOU do, you like the heat!!!!! I hate it, funny, I vent it the summer, you vent in the winter!
OK, the book Im reading...I love Dr. Oz, and this book is about staying young, which I should have thought about BEFORE I got old, but better late than never right...Im on a mission to feel better, and I think Im on the right track, losing wieght, eating right, walking tons, taking my vitamins EVERYDAY, trying to get rid of some bad habits and replace them with healthier ones.
Lastly I will leave you with a picture of the beach, we headed down there Sunday for a birthday brunch for a friend, August is nice at the beach!!!!
