Change of plans...

It was so beautiful yesterday that Pokie and I decided to break from our original plans of purging another room, and instead we decided to tackle the front planter that had been overgrown and overtaken by weeds.


We worked outside for a couple of hours and it was bliss....good for the soul. I did have to keep an eye out for the hawk that lives in the tower in the field next to my house for fear he would like to eat my parrot for lunch!



It was so nice to get this chore done......
I have decided that every single day this month I will tackle something that has been neglected, today it is the pile of ironing in the guest room.
Tomorrow Im hoping it will be something creative......

Challenge # 1......

I decided the first thing I would tackle in this new year would be my closet, and all my drawers, and the guest room closet, and the guest room drawers...lolol...where a decades worth of no longer loved clothes could be found. My hubby did his Sunday while I was at work, and he got a whole huge trash bag of stuff cleared out of his side of the closet, and I said SEE..that why we have no room. BUT when I finished my stuff, I have 4 bags of stuff! Can you believe it....lol...I found 3, yes 3, denim jumpers that I used to live in...15 YEARS AGO!!!!!!!! I found stuff I would not be caught dead in, then why has it been taking up space for YEARS!!!! So if you read my previous post you know my word for 2010 is Challenge, and this is my first Challenge completed, PURGE the closet and the drawers!!!! DONE!!!!!! now I just have to clean up the remaining mess, take all those bags to the thrift store, and relish in the accomplishment.....there are still a couple of those long dresses I cannot part with, not sure why..do you all have things you hold onto without rhyme or reason????? at any rate.....check one goal off the list.....and let me know what YOU hold onto for no good reason....and Im NOT talking about your hubbys.....lolololololol

Happy New Year to all my friends!!!
As we enter into the new year I have picked my word for the year....last year my word was GRATITUDE..and I am so grateful to have made it thru another year healthy and grateful for all my friends and family. I must day Iam glad 2009 is over...it was a tough year in a lot of ways. Several people dear to me lost their best friends....a couple of family members were diagnosed with cancer...a couple of family members are now ex family members...and the job market and economy in California has left some family members struggling......BUT last year also showed signs of hope and renewal....my first Grandbaby will be born in the spring...my sister got married and started a new life...new puppies...new family members to embrace...new beginnings.
Back to my word for 2010.......my new word is CHALLENGE.
This year I will challenge myself to finish everything I have started and left undone.
my projects...sewing and scrapping.If I dont finish this year I will toss it.
my health...getting that BMI number in line.
my home...symplifying and purging..
my closet...who NEEDS 3 sizes of everything?
my bad habits...I will challenge myself to stop procrastinating, and to stop biting my fingernails....
These are lofty goals I know...so to keep myself accountable I will blog my way thru them....next week I will be taking pictures of all my unfinished projects, and one by one sharing them as I complete them.

Good bye old faithful.....

I did not think I was going to cry but my eyes did get teary as I waved a final goodbye to old faithful.....we bought this car 24 years ago as a young married couple...and boy did we think we were something! It was quite beautiful in its day...and she still runs amazing......its hard to let go of something that has been there for you, she ALWAYS started, never let us down...and has been quite a workhorse. We have talked for years of letting her go.....and this is the right time....turned her over to the Childhood Leukemia Foundation....hopefully they will find her a good home.....farewell
